British thrash metal!
Detritus-Perpetual Defiance (Edge Music) 1990
1. "Subliminal Division"
(4:21)
2. "Point of No Return" (3:05)
3. "Playing with Fire" (6:17)
4. "Taste the Blood" (3:27)
5. "Morbid Curiosity" (7:05)
6. "No Mercy" (2:04)
7. "Child" (5:28)
8. "Eviction" (2:33)
9. "Derange" (5:52)
10. "Over the Top" (4:10)
British speed metal/thrash with a similar sound to label mates Seventh Angel. The music is fast and furious, the vocals are gritty and angry, and the whole thing just sounds really British. Also like Seventh Angel, these guys never gained the recognition they deserved due to poor promotion, distribution and management. The front cover painting is by Rodney Matthews who has also done covers for Veni Domine, Asia, and Seventh Angel, among others.
Detritus-If But For One (R.E.X.) 1993
1. "Masquerade" (3:55)
2. "So Far Away" (6:10)
3. "D.I.G.M." (5:36)
4. "Let Peace Begin With Me" (3:38)
5. "Feel" (2:16)
6. "Blindly Rejected" (4:43)
7. "If But For One" (6:45)
8. "Sailor's Farwell" (2:54)
9. "Father to Son" (3:40)
10. "Painted Reality" (4:08)
11. "As It Rains" (4:03)
12. "Subtle Shades" (3:59)
Another spectacular thrash offering from these Brits. Lots of tempo and time singature changes. There are some somber, mellow moments mixed in with the fury as well like in the opening to "So Far Away." The only song that I do not care for is the pirate ditty, "Sailor's Farwell," that reminds me a bit of Running Wild's "Under Jolly Roger."
